The snow is here and it doesn’t show signs of stopping. In our last post we talked about how the snow brings lots of new adventurous opportunities. Now we wanted to get specific and name a few places you can go so you can enjoy your winter to the fullest. . .

A lot of people ask Northerners why on earth they stay put when the temperatures drop below freezing and snow threatens to imprison us in our homes. They understand the beauty of Michigan in the summer, with our many lakes. . .

With holiday music on the radio, decked out streets, and seat heaters, winter driving can be a joyful way to take in the season. But, the most wonderful season of all is only wonderful if it’s a safe one for you and your family. Most of us up in Michigan are seasoned pros at winter driving, but everyone can use a reminder to help with that first-snow learning curve. . .

There are lots of safety hazards that cause roadblocks when it comes to winter driving, yet we all have to drive so much more! Holiday parties, shopping for perfect gifts, ski trips, and cozy getaways make this season. . .

Fall is here and we couldn’t be happier. Michigan is a great place to live all the time, but fall makes us feel extra lucky we get to call this place home. Fall is the season of change — kids start a new year of school, sports seasons start back up, and we start to prepare for winter. Finishing the last bit of yard work before the snow falls, and buying a new winter coat are some of the small things we do to ready ourselves; but we should also adapt some changes that will keep us safe as the temperature drops. . .

A few months ago in May and June when we anxiously attacked the beaches, deprived of sun, we found ourselves disappointed by Lake Michigan’s icy greeting. It seems that every year in our excitement, we forget that the water won’t quite be ready for us. We patiently wait as the days get longer, sunning the shores for a few extra minutes, and loyally visit the beaches to test the temperature. . .

As we reach late summer, most of us have been taking advantage of longer days and sunny skies by getting out and enjoying it. With so many warm-weather weekends, we might be starting to seek new kinds of adventure that don’t involve sitting on the beach or hiking our favorite trails. Did you know that Michigan is home to many trails specifically. . .

One fact has to do with our own state of Michigan!

– The natural color of rubber is white, not black. Manufacturers of tires add carbon black to rubber to increase various qualities that prolong the life of the tire. The carbon black increases road-wear abrasions of the produced tire. . .
