Vacation Wonderland’s Last Hoorah

Vacation Wonderland’s Last Hoorah

A few months ago in May and June when we anxiously attacked the beaches, deprived of sun, we found ourselves disappointed by Lake Michigan’s icy greeting. It seems that every year in our excitement, we forget that the water won’t quite be ready for us. We patiently wait as the days get longer, sunning the shores for a few extra minutes, and loyally visit the beaches to test the temperature. Then finally, as oranges and yellows work their way into the woods, and the winds begin to have a crispness to them, Lake Michigan becomes a warm retreat for those not quite ready to bundle up. Even the most hesitant of beach-goers tend to take their last chances of the year and dip their toes in the sparkling waves. Michiganders take advantage of these few weeks of warm weather and warm water overlap by heading north where the waters tend to wait the longest to thaw.

Long road trips up toward Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Charlevoix, and Mackinac are for enjoying the beginnings of fall colors, family bonding, and anticipating adventures ahead. Don’t let those special moments be ruined by a tire problem. Let Wonderland help you enjoy the last bit of Michigan Vacation Wonderland.
