With holiday music on the radio, decked out streets, and seat heaters, winter driving can be a joyful way to take in the season. But, the most wonderful season of all is only wonderful if it’s a safe one for you and your family. Most of us up in Michigan are seasoned pros at winter driving, but everyone can use a reminder to help with that first-snow learning curve. We’ve rounded up a few safety tips to help you make winter driving wonderful so that you can relax and enjoy your peppermint mocha.
1. Always test your steering and braking.
2. Slow down three times sooner than you think you should.
3. Drive a little slower than you would in normal conditions. Every road and every condition is different.
4. Make sure your windshield wipers are functional and always keep an ice scraper in your car so that you can see clearly.
5. Take the scenic route. Take the time to drive through town and see the decorations. Roads in town will be slower moving, and definitely plowed or cleared.
6. Stop into your local wonderland tire for all of your tire needs. Check your tire pressure, look at winter tires, and pick up some new windshield wipers all in one place.
Safe travels and happy holidays!
